Court, There was nothing self-effacing about "Some Idiots Afloat." You were always the star.

Ah, I am happy to say a few good words that others may. I saw you perform at Plush on 4th Avenue in Tucson. In reading your bio, I see you have played all over Tucson and I'm happy to see that you are playing all over the United States, as well. But, of course, you got your start in the Northeast before moving to the Southwest. Anyway, I became an instant fan--and though it may be hard to fathom--I mean the fandom hit me instantaneously that night at Plush. But perhaps I had been set up at the door by some friends of yours. They told me you played folk-rock and I told them I had seen Michelle Shocked at Plaza Palomino only two weeks before and was utterly blown away by her. They said I should come listen to you. Unbelievably, you were playing and Plush was not charging any cover which made it so easy to cruise on in and sit down and give a listen. You have a marvelous presence onstage even when you are quietly considering which song you will play next for us. You have a quiet confidence and generate and express a real love for your audience and, like I said previously, I became an instant fan. After your first set, I arose to buy one CD which you offered for the low price of $10. But when you didn't have but a $5 bill, lyou offered two CDs for $15 and made me a happy owner of two CDs: "Seashell Radio," which you perform with a group, and "red sky in morning," which you perform solo. I am very happy for you. I am happy to see that you also perform for gay causes. That doesn't make you gay--even though my gaydar said you might be--it only makes you a good, open, and freedom-loving human. I love that. I love you--for who you are. Aloha, Kenny |

Hi there, Courtney!
I hope all is well with you. It was fun getting to know a little while you were here in town; and getting to hear you preform with Joe at the TransFormAZ picnic.
Wished I could have spoken with you more at the Cash Inn, but, hopefully in the future.
Making fans -- just bein' you.

Rodney, you're my hero. How come you never play "Alaska" anymore. That one was always my favorite. "Alaska performed in the vest is the best. |

I was blown away by your show at Mick's in Omaha. Truly, you gave me a beautiful gift in your music-- the courage and perspective I needed to face another year of teaching high school in a small school in the midwest. You sing some damn beautiful truth!
I am loving the cd and I am SO grateful that I got to meet you. Please stay with us again if you find yourself out amidst the cornfields again.
Best wishes and many, many thanks! |

Hey Courtney,
I'm JC's sister, down in the STL. I would love to see you and Coyote Grace come through town on your tour. I'm trying to get to Minneapolis when you're there, but St. Louis also has a lot of great venues to play at, like Novak's or Cicero's. You should really consider it, perhaps between Minneapolis and Omaha? JC bought me a copy of your CD and Coyote Grace's. I love them! Hope to see you all sometime this summer. Have a great tour! |

Hello Courtney,
This note is to congratulate you on your first CD! You are incredibly talented! My husband and I listened to your CD on our drive from Ann Arbor to Iowa City last week, after meeting with your sister, who gave us the CD as a gift. I am a friend of your sister's... a fellow anthro graduate student.
Anyhow, CONGRATULATIONS and keep them coming!
